At JPix Studio, our holiday mini sessions are intentionally short — just 20 minutes. Why? Because we know your time is valuable, especially during the busy holiday season. But don’t let the short window fool you — with a little prep (and our guidance), you can walk away with stunning, joy-filled images that feel like they took hours to create.
Here’s how to make the most of your 20 minutes in front of the camera.
We can’t stress this enough: arrive 10 minutes early.
That gives you time to park, touch up lipstick, fix a bowtie, or shake off the car ride wiggles (kids and adults alike!). Our sessions are booked back-to-back, so arriving late cuts into your shoot time.
✨ Pro Tip: Treat this like a live event — not an appointment you can slide into last-minute.
Your outfit choices matter — not just for how you look, but how you feel. Choose something that:
Makes you feel comfortable and confident
Coordinates with your family’s palette (check out our Style Guide)
Allows you to move, sit, or kneel easily
Skip the itchy tags, tight shoes, or stiff collars that might cause meltdowns (especially for kids).
💄 Want to level up? Add professional makeup as an optional upgrade — you’ll look and feel amazing.
We know — kids are unpredictable. But that’s okay. We’ve built our sessions to capture authentic moments, not perfection.
Here’s how to help them have a great time:
Talk about the session like an adventure or a fun activity
Avoid bribing with treats during the shoot — instead, offer a reward for afterward
Let them bring a favorite toy or blanket if it helps them feel at ease
Make sure they're fed and rested — hunger and tiredness show on camera
📸 Reminder: Some of the best images come when they’re not looking at the camera — we embrace the giggles, the hugs, and the chaos.
Our sets are custom-designed and already full of character, so you won’t need to bring props — unless it’s something special like:
A family heirloom ornament
A child’s favorite holiday book
A small gift you plan to surprise your partner or child with
Otherwise, show up with your people, your smiles, and your energy — we’ll take care of the rest.
You don’t have to worry about posing. We do this every day — and we’re really good at helping people feel relaxed in front of the camera.
What we’ll do:
Gently guide you through flattering poses
Offer prompts for movement, laughter, and natural moments
Adjust hair, clothing, or angles as needed
Capture both posed portraits and candid in-betweens
What you can do:
Be present
Stay open
Don’t overthink — just connect with your people and enjoy the moment
We’ve seen it all: kids who won’t smile, toddlers who fall asleep, babies who cry… and families who walk away with the most heart-melting images anyway.
Let go of perfection. Show up with love. That’s what makes your session memorable — and meaningful.
Leave coats, bags, and phones in the car or tucked away
Bring a lint roller or travel wipes just in case
Keep lip gloss, a brush, and tissues handy
Bring flat shoes if you’re wearing heels — just for walking to the studio
Holiday Mini Sessions are filling fast — and early bookings save $50 when paid in full.
