Two beautiful holiday settings. Endless ways to express your family's style.
There is something special about getting the entire family together for holiday portraits. The laughter, the personalities, the little moments in between poses—and, of course, figuring out what everyone is going to wear.
For some families, planning outfits is part of the fun. For others, it's the one thing standing between them and booking their holiday session.
We get it.
At JPix Studio, we believe family portraits should reflect who you are, not just what season it is. Whether your family loves dressing to the nines, keeping things casually cool, or mixing timeless pieces with a little personality, there's room for your style in our studio.
This year, we've created two distinct holiday experiences: Woodland Christmas and Midnight & Ivory. Each has its own personality, color story, and atmosphere.
We've put together this holiday style guide to help you choose colors, coordinate outfits, and create a look that feels beautifully put together without looking overly planned.
Because the best family portraits aren't about everyone wearing the same thing. They're about everyone looking and feeling like themselves—together.
Remember when family holiday pictures meant everyone wearing identical sweaters or the same colored shirt?
Those days are behind us.
Today's family portraits are more about creating a cohesive look through complementary colors, interesting textures, and individual style.
Think of your family's wardrobe as a collection. Every piece should work together, but each person gets to bring something different to the picture.
Our five favorite styling rules:
Start with a color palette. Choose three or four complementary colors and build everyone's outfits around them.
Mix textures. Velvet, denim, knitwear, wool, and satin add richness and dimension to photographs.
Coordinate the level of dress. If Mom is wearing an evening gown, Dad shouldn't be wearing a graphic T-shirt—unless you're intentionally creating a fashion-forward contrast.
Let personalities shine. Your teenager can be trendy, your little one can wear something playful, and Dad can keep his signature style.
Choose comfort with intention. Looking beautiful shouldn't mean spending the entire session adjusting uncomfortable clothes.
And one more thing: don't feel obligated to wear red and green just because it's Christmas. Holiday portraits can be festive without relying on traditional holiday colors.
Imagine the warmth of a beautifully decorated home during the holidays. Deep greens, rich wood tones, soft textures, and a touch of understated elegance.
That's the feeling behind Woodland Christmas.
Our Woodland Christmas set features an earthy, sophisticated palette with olive, chocolate, greenery, burgundy accents, and warm holiday details.
For this setting, we love colors that feel natural, luxurious, and inviting.
Terracotta • Olive • Camel • Chocolate
For the family that loves effortless sophistication.
Mom: A flowing terracotta dress or tailored chocolate trousers paired with a soft blouse.
Dad: Olive trousers with a camel knit or chocolate blazer.
Daughter: A warm ivory dress with tan boots or an olive velvet dress.
Son: Camel chinos, an ivory sweater, and brown loafers.
The JPix Style Note: Mixing warm neutrals with olive creates a beautiful, grounded palette. Let the textures add the visual interest.
Burgundy • Blush • Ivory • Champagne
For the family that loves a little glamour.
Mom: A burgundy velvet dress or an elegant blush ensemble.
Dad: A tailored charcoal or deep burgundy suit with an ivory shirt.
Daughter: A soft blush tulle or satin dress.
Son: Ivory trousers, a burgundy sweater, or a neutral blazer.
The JPix Style Note: Burgundy makes a statement, while blush and ivory soften the overall look. It's festive, romantic, and timeless.
Burgundy • Gray • Ivory • Denim
For the family that prefers a relaxed but polished look.
Mom: Dark denim with a beautiful burgundy sweater or cardigan.
Dad: Gray knitwear paired with dark-wash jeans.
Daughter: An ivory knit dress or sweater with denim.
Son: Burgundy knitwear, charcoal trousers, or dark denim.
The JPix Style Note: Casual doesn't have to mean ordinary. Well-fitting denim, beautiful sweaters, and thoughtfully chosen accessories can look just as polished as formalwear.
If Woodland Christmas feels warm and romantic, Midnight & Ivory brings a different energy.
Think contemporary elegance, striking contrasts, rich blues, soft ivory, and a sophisticated holiday atmosphere.
This set is perfect for families who love a polished, modern look with a little fashion-editorial edge.
Navy • Chocolate • Camel • Denim
For the family that loves classic pieces with contemporary style.
Mom: Wide-leg dark denim with a chocolate blazer or tailored camel ensemble.
Dad: Navy trousers with a chocolate knit or structured jacket.
Daughter: A navy dress with camel accessories or stylish denim with an ivory top.
Son: Dark denim, a camel sweater, and clean leather shoes.
The JPix Style Note: Navy and chocolate are an unexpectedly beautiful pairing. Add camel and denim to keep the overall look relaxed, modern, and wearable.
Plum • Purple • Slate Gray • Silver
For the family that enjoys dressing up.
Mom: A deep plum gown, satin dress, or tailored suit.
Dad: A slate-gray suit with a plum or lavender accent.
Daughter: A lavender or soft purple dress.
Son: Charcoal trousers with a light gray sweater or a tailored blazer.
The JPix Style Note: These jewel tones photograph beautifully against the contrasting elements of Midnight & Ivory. Keep accessories understated and let the colors do the talking.
Black • Ivory • Charcoal • Soft Gray
For the family that loves timeless fashion with an edge.
Mom: A black tailored suit, elegant dress, or dramatic wide-leg trousers.
Dad: A black or charcoal ensemble with an ivory shirt.
Daughter: An ivory dress with black accessories or a chic black-and-white outfit.
Son: Black trousers, an ivory knit, and a tailored jacket.
The JPix Style Note: Monochromatic dressing never goes out of style. The key is to create dimension through fabric, layering, and silhouettes so everyone looks coordinated without blending together.
Choose clothing that allows your children to move, sit, laugh, and be themselves. Avoid scratchy fabrics, stiff collars, or anything that requires constant adjusting.
A comfortable child is far more likely to give us those genuine expressions parents love.
Give them a voice in the wardrobe planning.
Teenagers are developing their own sense of style, and forcing them into something they don't love can take the joy out of the experience.
Let them select a look within your chosen color palette. A stylish blazer, elevated sneakers, wide-leg trousers, or a trendy knit can all work beautifully.
We see you.
You're often the one organizing everyone's outfits, scheduling the appointment, and making sure every detail comes together.
But we want you to feel just as beautiful and confident as everyone else.
Choose something you love wearing—not simply something that coordinates with the rest of the family.
And don't forget, professional makeup is available as an add-on for your JPix holiday session if you'd like a little extra pampering.
Keep it simple, but intentional.
A well-fitting blazer, beautiful knit sweater, tailored trousers, or crisp dark denim can elevate the entire family's look.
You don't need a tuxedo to look polished. Fit, color, and confidence go a long way.
Here's something we always encourage families to remember: you don't need to purchase an entirely new wardrobe for your holiday pictures.
Start with pieces you already love.
Maybe Mom has a beautiful burgundy dress she's been waiting to wear again. Maybe Dad owns the perfect navy blazer. Maybe your daughter has an ivory dress that would work beautifully with a new pair of shoes.
Build around those pieces.
Invest in a few finishing touches if needed, but don't feel pressured to buy everything new.
The goal isn't to look like another family you saw on Pinterest.
The goal is to look like your family—at your very best.
Years from now, when you look back at your holiday portraits, you probably won't remember how long it took to find the perfect sweater or whether everyone's shoes matched exactly.
You'll remember how little your children were. The way your family laughed together. The personalities, the expressions, and the season of life you were in.
That's what makes these photographs special.
At JPix Studio, we want the entire experience to feel warm, relaxed, and memorable—from planning your wardrobe to seeing your finished portraits.
Whether you're drawn to the cozy elegance of Woodland Christmas or the sophisticated style of Midnight & Ivory, we can't wait to create something beautiful with your family.
Your holiday story deserves to be remembered.
